please view in original size...

I have redone the tile graphics. Tweaked the colors a bit.
Redone most of the icons or their sizes.

I think MS really rushed here. Most icons look like they were made in a hurry.

They are not even placed exactly in one place for each app.

This is to show how the Start Screen can look a little cleaner and uniform.

(Notice the reduced gradient)

I'm not a user of Windows 8, but from what I'm seeing you were able to blend the UI elements much better than Microsoft. Things that irk me (off-center icons) were fixed, and the icons seem as if they are made to be together, instead of looking somewhat similar.

The only change that seems a bit off to me is the calendar. From what I remember, the live tiles were supposed to be able to give the user information at a glance, without opening it's own program. You succeeded in doing this with the weather tile, it still shows information at a glance, and fits the general UI theme much better than the original, but your calendar, even though it visually looks better, doesn't show the same amount of information the microsoft version does at a glance.

Overall, if I were a Windows 8 user, I would VERY much prefer your version than microsoft's version. I never comment much on Deviantart, but I love seeing your takes on the microsoft UI! I'm still using Shine 2.0 for Windows 7 :P

Well I am also redesigning the Music App.. right now it takes too many clicks to find or play a song.

I'm excited to see what you can do with the music app, with so much information given by the app itself, I know it'll be hard to be able to convey it in a clean and attractive manner!

no idea.. these are native icons.. this is just a mockup. I have no idea how to change app icons. If you find out let me know :)

You can change some of these icons. You can find them and replace them in images or assets folder in application folder which is located here: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. This folder is natively hidden and inaccessible but you can get access by this tutorial [link]. I hope it will help you and I hope that if you change some of those icons you will release them here on DA.
PS: Sorry for my English

if I get this to work this is great!.. but I have a question..
is there a way to backup the apps?
if I uninstall them and reinstall.. would that revert the Icon or will my replacement still stand?

If you reinstall them by Windows store the icons will revert to native icons so you don't have to backup them but backup yours new icons because when the application updates the icon may return to its original state :-)

so I looked into them.. I find 3 or 4 icon sizes.. but I don't find any files for the size that on the tiles.. and also for the big ones that show when the app is loading.. the splash screen I mean.

do u know where those are for any native app? like mail for example?
